In June 2019, Kristi Films Company, headed by producer Yuri Minzianov, began filming its first feature film «Taras Shevchenko: The First Samurai».
Actor Roman Lutsky, who is familiar to viewers on the movies «The Watchtower» and «Brothers. Last Confession», will play the role of Taras Shevchenko. The role of Samurai Akayo will be performed by Sergey Strelnikov ("Oleksa Dovbush").
Roman Perfiliev's project «Taras Shevchenko» won the Patriotic Cinema Competition organized by State Film Agency of Ukraine last year. The film received a budget of UAH 24.5 million, UAH 19.6 million of which was allocated by the government. According to Perfiliev, the idea of the film appeared when the director saw various artistic interpretations of Shevchenko's image during the Maidan.
The first location for the shooting was chosen Holosiivskyi forest, where the group captured the first large-scale scene: the battle of three ninja samurai.
